Black Beard Mondo Grass produces near-black foliage - one of the darkest groundcover plants in cultivation. The colour is most intense in full sun, shifting slightly toward very dark green in shade. It spreads very slowly by clumping runners and is best used as an accent plant or in small-scale positions where the dramatic colour can be appreciated: between pale pavers, edging a path, or as a contrast to silver-leaved plants.
