In April and May the foliage turns deep claret-red - a rich, wine-dark colour that is more intense and more saturated than most deciduous trees produce in Perth's mild winters. The tree is large, fast-growing to around 10-15m, with a broad, rounded canopy that provides excellent summer shade. It works as a specimen tree, a street tree, and as a canopy layer in larger gardens. Full sun. Well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established.
